With elementary school finished and high school just around the corner, you can be sure your child gets a good start to his or her secondary education by remembering a few things. Middle schoolers are pulled in different directions. Peer pressure means their group is challenging the standards, at church and elsewhere. Despite this group dynamic, they can feel isolated and alone. More than ever, your child needs parents who’ll be loving, firm, and consistent. You should take advantage of your student’s increasing self-reliance and enthusiasm. Seventh graders tend to be more interested in current events and can approach long-term projects with great energy. Foster this enthusiasm to create a good learning and work ethic for middle school, high school, and beyond.
