Why didn’t the golf ball fly straight after it was hit? Why are race tracks inclined? Physics, the foundational science, has the answers. And your teen can understand those answers as he listens to his Abeka Academy teacher’s clear presentation of the theoretical and practical aspects of physics. This high school elective presents the laws of creation as God has set them into motion. He and his video classmates will study friction, gravity, energy, momentum, thermodynamics, and much more. Such concepts as projectile motion, static friction, magnetism, and properties of waves come to life via hands-on activities detailed in the 20 labs. The companion lab manual provides the stated purpose, introduction, equipment list, instructions, and lab sheet for reporting results. As your child becomes acquainted with the students on the video, he will feel as though he is a part of the class. The teacher will even pause to allow “students watching” opportunity to participate.
The prerecorded online video streaming or DVDs give you the flexibility to set your own daily schedule. The video lease provides a full 12 months to complete the 170 lessons and 6 months to complete 85 lessons for a semester. You also have the option to purchase either the Video & Books or Video (for those who may already have some of the materials and wish to purchase individual items separately). A video manual is provided with either option to help you stay on track with the video teacher. Also, record-keeping progress reports are included with both options to document your child’s progress through the school year.
Abeka Academy offers two different program types to meet your family’s specific needs. The Unaccredited program allows for more course flexibility and relies solely on the home teacher to keep track of student records. For an additional charge, the Accredited program provides official report cards and standardized testing as well as reliable record-keeping by our academic team. With either option, academic assistance is accessible through email, live chat, or phone. Conveniently view our Homeschool Agreement before purchase to understand the requirements. Prerequisite: Algebra 1.
