Being a parent is already a full-time job, and you’re never off the clock. Add being a teacher, and you’re one seriously busy person. The reality is homeschool parents juggle a lot in a day. We designed parent kits to take a few things off your plates.
We offer two types of comprehensive kits: Essential Parent Kits and Complete Parents Kits. There are slight differences in the two kits that we’ll explain in this blog. But we’ll start with what they have in common: they’re both convenient and cost-efficient.
Convenient
Rather than tracking down each subject’s individual lesson plan and teacher edition and adding them to your cart, when you purchase an Essential or Complete Parent Kit, all the materials you need for the year are delivered to your door in one convenient box, along with all the quiz and test keys.
Cost-Effective
If you need all the individual lesson plans and teacher editions, it’s actually cheaper to purchase them in a parent kit than individually. In fact, you can save up to 10 percent by purchasing kits.
Now, on to the differences between the Essential and Complete Parent Kits.
Essential Parent Kits
These kits are for our K4 through grade 6 parents. When we say “Essential” Parent Kit, we mean just that – everything that’s essential to successfully get through the school year is provided. That includes every core subject’s quiz and test keys, lesson plans, and teacher editions. Supplemental materials are not included in this kit. As an example, here’s what’s included in the Grade 1 Essential Parent Kit:
- Homeschool Language Arts 1 Curriculum Lesson Plans
- Reading 1 Answer Key
- Letters and Sounds 1 Test Key
- Basic Phonics Charts (1-3)
- Homeschool Arithmetic 1 Curriculum Lesson Plans
- Arithmetic 1 Teacher Key
- Arithmetic 1 Tests and Speed Drills Key
- Arithmetic 1-2 Concept Cards
- Homeschool Arithmetic 1 Charts and Games
- Homeschool Arithmetic 1-2 Tables and Facts Charts
- Homeschool Arithmetic Combination Dot Cards
- Homeschool Place Value Concept Cards
- Homeschool Numbers Flashcards
- Homeschool Seatwork Charts
- Homeschool History, Science, and Health 1 Curriculum Lesson Plans
There’s a total of 15 items on this list, which is a lot to pull together in an online shopping cart. The kit also includes 170 days of easy-to-use lesson plans, charts, games, and answer keys for all assessments. If you were to purchase every item on this list individually, you’d spend $314.10. By purchasing them as a kit, you save 10 percent and spend only $282.70.
Subject Kits
Our Subject Kits are basically Essential Parent Kits but by subject. It includes everything you need for one subject for the year. As we speak, our team is still developing these, so there are limitations as to what is currently available. Here’s what’s available now:
Language Arts 1st–6th
Arithmetic 1st–6th
Science/Health 4th–6th
History/Geography 4th–6th
For example, when you purchase the Grade 1 Arithmetic Parent Kit you get nine items, including 170 days of easy-to-use lesson plans, answer keys for tests and speed drills, and teaching aids. Here’s how it all looks listed out:
- Homeschool Arithmetic 1 Curriculum Lesson Plans
- Arithmetic 1 Teacher Key
- Arithmetic 1 Tests and Speed Drills Key
- Arithmetic 1-2 Concept Cards
- Homeschool Arithmetic 1 Charts and Games
- Homeschool Arithmetic 1-2 Tables and Facts Charts

Purchasing the Subject Kit rather than the individual books can save you up to 5 percent.
Middle School & High School Parent Kits
These are basically the “Essential Parent Kit” but for the upper-grade-level individual subjects. In parent kits for middle and high school (7th-12th grade), you’ll have everything you need to teach the core subjects. supplemental materials are not included in the kit. When the box arrives, it will contain each core subject’s quiz and test keys, lesson plans, and teacher editions.
Complete Parent Kits
The Complete Parent Kit is available for K4 through 6th grade. With the Complete Parent Kit, you will be set up with everything you need to homeschool successfully for the entire school year with the addition of supplemental support materials to add more diversity to your lessons. Like the Essential Parent Kit, it contains each core subject’s quiz and test keys, lesson plans, and teacher editions. Parents often purchase the Complete Parent Kit when they plan to reuse the materials for a younger child who will be advancing into that same grade soon. We’ve also heard parents say they prefer the Complete Parent Kit when homeschooling their younger children because the supplemental visual aspects and charts help them learn.
As an example of what you could expect to receive in a complete parent kit, here’s everything that’s included in the Grade 1 Complete Parent Kit:

And by purchasing a complete parent kit rather than individually purchasing each item included, you can save 10 percent.
If you’re looking for a way to lighten the load and simplify purchasing the materials you need for the coming homeschool year, especially if you’re new to homeschool, parent kits are a great way to get started with confidence.
Take it from one of our recent parent kit customers, Kellyann:
“I bought this last year for my child for 1st grade. Her reading is amazing!! She understands math very well and her handwriting is beautiful for being left-handed. This year we bought the 2nd grade essentials because a lot of the materials in this kit can be reused in 2nd grade! And so far we are both enjoying it. The teacher’s book is fantastic in helping me teach clearly. I love the colored fun pages that my daughter uses. I also like the history, health, and science that are included. Staying organized and pre planning your week will help a lot with this curriculum so you don’t get overwhelmed. All we have to do is get up in the morning, have breakfast, pray, and read our bibles; then we start because I have it all prepped…So much smoother than planning the night before.”
