How to Customize Video Lessons to Fit Your Homeschool Needs

video homeschool

Every homeschool family is unique. Maybe your family has multiple children who have different strengths and needs, so you take an eclectic approach to homeschool – picking what works best for each of your children. Or perhaps you feel called to lead your children through their education exclusively with the Abeka curriculum, and you’re using a parent-led approach. Or maybe you’re a busy working family who allows our effective video-based teachers to help lighten the load.

No matter why you choose to homeschool, Abeka’s video lessons have the ability to enhance your lifestyle, not to mention help your child meet the academic goals they’re striving for. You can customize your approach to homeschool, and use video lessons to help, OR, use them to lead the way.

Do School Anywhere, Anytime

Video lessons are on-demand and fully flexible to complement your lifestyle. Each video is pre-recorded for streaming or on DVD, so you can do school anywhere and at any time. This means that if you’re sick, traveling, or simply need a break, it’s completely fine to press pause and pick up where you left off whenever you’re ready.

Rewind and Repeat Lessons

In a traditional classroom setting, your child would theoretically be able to ask their teacher to go over a concept again. But in reality, they may feel too embarrassed to look like they aren’t understanding the lesson. With Abeka video lessons, your child can rewatch the lesson again or watch specific areas within a subject to help gain a clearer understanding of the content. And never feel ashamed when they need to do so. Video lessons are a flexible way to never worry your children are falling behind when they have questions – they can learn at their own pace.

Get Help With Lessons When You Need It

One of the most common concerns we hear from homeschool parents is, how to teach a difficult subject? While your child believes that you can do everything, sometimes, you might get stuck on the more complex parts of Chemistry or Algebra. Who can blame you? It’s been a while. Video lessons can come to your rescue. Our video lessons are designed to cater to all learning abilities. If there is an area of the curriculum that you are uncomfortable with, these videos get straight to the point and not only help teach your child, but they can refresh your memory on the areas that you find difficult. Who knows, once you’ve watched the video yourself, maybe your memory will be jogged, and you’ll be able to help your child if they get stuck on something in the future. You’ll find that your child is drawn into the real classroom setting, and that will help to maintain their focus, ultimately, allowing them to stay engaged when the lessons become challenging. And if you get completely stuck and feel unable to help your child on a part of the lesson, with Abeka Academy you have access to an academic helpline at 1-800-874-3592 so you can call and get clarification on any concept you can’t get a handle on.

What Are the Abeka Video Lesson Options?

You can have options. Choose from video lessons on demand, which are streaming lessons for any subject, at any grade level, and available in 10-hour blocks. Video lessons by individual subject are for grades 7-12 (all lessons) and for arithmetic in grades 4-6, available in streaming or DVD format, and as a bonus, grades 9-12 have an accredited option included for free. Video-subject combos are streaming lessons for grades 1-6 for language arts and Bible, or for the combination of arithmetic, science, history, and Bible. You choose which combination fits your needs. Abeka Academy is the video-lesson full package – grades K4-12, every subject per grade, on streaming or DVD, with the accredited option available to you at no extra charge for grades K5-12. No matter what your needs are, there’s a helpful video option for you at Abeka.

Parents want to be able to do it all, all of the time, but sometimes, you need a little help. We provide video lessons as an option for our homeschool families because every situation is different and needs change – video lessons are a simple solution for any parent looking to fill the gaps, or even take the reigns. Test them out for yourself by sampling a lesson on our website.

Is anyone else having problems with submitting quizzes and tests online? My granddaughter says that when she goes to submit a quiz or test on Windows 10 using Microsoft Edge that it locks up and doesn't submit the item. Do you know if there is a fix for this? Thanks.

Hi! I'm considering the Abeka program. Do you have a program where Abeka records the grades and administers tests and quizzes online. And is this an accredited home school program? Thanks, Donna
