STEM Winter Salt Painting

Draw snowflake designs with glue and cover with table salt. Shake off the excess salt and drop liquid watercolors on top of the salt. The colors will spread throughout the design. This stem art project creates beautiful results and students will be amazed.

Materials: 

  • Table salt
  • Heavy paper or cardstock
  • White glue
  • Liquid watercolors or watered down food coloring
  • Pipette or dropper
  • Tray or pan

Steps:

Step 1: Draw out simple snowflake designs with a pencil on a piece of cardstock.

Step 2: Trace the lines with glue.

Step 3: Pour a generous amount of salt over the glue.

Step 4: Shake off the salt onto your tray.

Step 5: Drop the liquid colors onto the snowflake; Let dry.
