  Literature—Devices such as figurative language, theme, and setting are tools in the hands of writers! As 10th graders study these literary devices, they use them to enjoy and appreciate Paradise Lost, Don Quixote, and other renowned selections. A highlight is the reading and study of Julius Caesar and Silas Marner.
  Grammar and Composition—Tenth graders are introduced to advanced grammatical concepts such as mood, objective complements, and substantives. And to new forms of writing such as a critical book review, which is part of the Author Research Project.
  Vocabulary, Spelling, Poetry—The emphasis on the origin of vocabulary words; word analysis through the study of prefixes, roots, and suffixes; and word analogies is an education in itself! In addition to the 144 vocabulary words, more than 1,000 synonyms, antonyms, and related words are part of this year’s study. Learning Shelley’s “Ozymandias” and 9 other poems from memory is a bonus!
• Algebra 2—Tenth graders graduate into more advanced algebraic concepts such as graphing, solving quadratic equations, radicals and exponents, imaginary numbers, logarithms, and completing the square.
• Biology—Nonevolutionary in philosophy, spirit, and sequence of study, biology begins with the familiar things of nature and concludes with God’s amazing design at the cellular and chemical level.
• World History—From the beginning of civilization to the 20th-century rise of globalism, grade 10 history shows God’s purpose and plan in human events. Your son or daughter will have a firm grasp of world events and cultures.
